In standard GLPI, notifications depend on email. Technicians need to switch between GLPI and their inbox to know if anything changed. The result: delayed followup responses, forgotten validations, and overlooked tasks.
The solution: notification bell in GLPI
Smart Notify adds a notification bell to the GLPI navigation bar that aggregates 11 event sources in real time:
- Followups on tickets, problems, and changes
- Pending validations
- Assigned tasks
- Registered solutions
- Attached documents
Individual preferences
Each technician controls exactly which types of notifications they want to receive. The preferences modal is accessible directly from the bell dropdown – no need to go into system settings.
Sounds by priority
High or urgent priority notifications emit distinct sounds via the Web Audio API. Four sound levels: subtle, default, alert, and alarm. The technician knows, even before looking at the screen, whether something urgent has arrived.
Visual indicators in listings
In ticket listings, red dots indicate which items have unread notifications. When you navigate to the item, the notification is automatically marked as read.
Manual notifications for admins
Administrators can send manual notifications with precise targeting: to all users, a specific user, a group, or an entity. Useful for maintenance announcements, process changes, or operational alerts.
